Wheel Detection

Over 30 years of global experience have enabled Frauscher to develop wheel sensors that are characterized by maximum availability. Even when subjected to extreme temperatures, vibrations and electromagnetic interference, Frauscher wheel sensors generate reliable data for both vital and non-vital applications. The patented rail claws and the plug-in connection available on some models make it fast & efficient to mount Frauscher wheel sensors. Additionally, simple maintenance cycles minimize life cycle costs and time on track. With its open analogue interface, the Wheel Sensor RSR110 can be integrated into various applications with ease. Frauscher also supplies a WSD signal converter unit, which provides simple and quick digital signals. For realizing vital applications, Frauscher provides its customers with proven wheel detection systems.

Axle Counting

Axle Counting is the main application of wheel detection systems. Frauscher axle counters are able to provide higher-level systems with more detailed information beyond train detection. At the same time, they can be integrated very effectively into interlocking and signaling systems using state-of-the-art software and hardware interfaces. Connection to a high-performance electronic interlocking is possible via a customer-specific interface as well as the open Frauscher Safe Ethernet FSE protocol. All Frauscher axle counters have been structured to be modular and scalable. They can be quickly and easily configured, commissioned, maintained and adapted by both system integrators and operators. Various tasks during installation and operation can be accompanied by innovative tools, such as the Frauscher Configuration Tool FCT or the Frauscher Diagnostic System FDS. Frauscher offers three axle counting systems in order to provide the most effective solution for all functional, operational and infrastructure-related requirements.

Tracking

Based on the principle of Fiber Optic Acoustic Detection (FOAD), Frauscher Tracking Solutions FTS represents a new generation of live train tracking. The technology enables applications for train tracking, asset condition monitoring and security requirements by using only a single solution on and near the tracks. Up to 80km of track can be sensing using a single system, utilizing a single strand of fiber optic cable. It is possible to detect, in real-time, passing trains, wheel flats, rail defects, footsteps on or near the cable, work such as sawing or digging, rock falls, animal herds and more. To increase data quality and system vitality, FTS can be combined with proven axle counters and wheel detection systems. Thus Frauscher can provide its customers with expanded options.
